The last two years, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my vagina.

It first started when I was dating my ex. Soon after we had sex, I had itchiness, burning and just an all around yucky feeling in my vagina. Especially when we had sex. It was horribly painful.

I went to the  doctor, who told me I had bacterial vaginitis. I was prescribed a generic form of Flagyl— Fourteen pills, seven days. I felt relief, but the infection crept back not long after I had finished the bottle. Long story short, when I was with my ex within that year, I visited the doctor eight times for some sort of inflammation of my yoni.

When I asked why do I keep getting chronic bacterial infections, no one had a straight answer. They still don’t. I was told, “Some women are just more prone to get them”, “You aren’t being hygenic”, “You need to take more [insert one of a hundred supplements here]”.

But nothing had changed from when I didn’t get bacterial infections to the state I was then in. But I took any instruction I could get it and  followed it: I showered after sex, I took folic acid, Vitamin D, sitz bathes, and douched with vinegar. Any advice from anyone was gladly taken.

And it all seemingly made it worse.

After my ex and I broke up, I stopped having bacterial infections so frequently. I’ve only had one in the year, I have been with Ryan. And that was diagnosed last week. I’ve taken 6/7 of the antibiotics. I felt a yeast infection flare up from the antibiotics + new birth control.

So it stops here. I took out my Nuvaring and decided to halt the antibiotics. I started using acidopholus suppositories today [already my yoni feels soothed] and chowin’ down the garlic.

I’ve also started to say the mantra,
“My yoni is a beautiful, happy haven.”

The routine doctor visits, the terrible advice and everything else has made me insecure about my lady parts. I want to rebuild this relationship.

My yoni and I will be friends again by the end of the week.
She misses Ryan hard.
